Greetings and Happy Monday, or Tuesday or Wednesday!
Thank you for taking a few minutes and clicking our link to Mentor Monday!
This week is a quick thank You to all of our volunteers and specifically those that have stayed with the team for 5, 10, 15 and 20 years.
Thank You! Hopefully, you know that your time, talents, patience, enthusiasm, humor, compassion and thoughtfulness is appreciated.
We appreciate you!
We are optimistic about classes this summer here at Oasis, so please check out the summer 2020 offerings at www.oasisabq.org
Thank you to everyone who donated this last week to Oasis as part of the spring campaign and #GivingTuesday!
Thank you to everyone who has already completed our Oasis volunteer tutor survey.
Thank you in advance to everyone else who will take the 3-5 minutes to complete the tutor survey. Please only complete the survey one time.
We are having conversations with teachers and district coordinators to determine how to best support our students in 2020/2021. Please start thinking about your comfort level for volunteering this coming year. Will you consider going into the school, or if available, would you like to virtual volunteer with a student? You might look into Google Meets https://meet.google.com/ or Zoom https://zoom.us/ as possibilities for working with your student.
For your viewing pleasure, we offer a little marble music, a young artist, and a silly book – A Book Without Pictures.
Please take a moment and share any thoughts or ideas in the comment section below. As always, happy reading.
Enjoy!
Vicki
Thank you to our awesome Webmistress, Niki who designs our vlog every week. She never signs her name or accepts credit for her help, but I thank her for making me look good, professional and fun every week. Thank you Niki!
You are so kind. ♡\( ̄▽ ̄)/♡ Thank you for always making me smile. It is I who thank you for being such a joy to work with. °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°
Oh my goodness you are going to drag me into the 21st technology. Maybe. Will there be a tutorial or some such if I opt to do virtual tutoring? Since I am reluctant to break self-quarantining unless something changes, since I am soulfully sad about the possibility of not mentoring next year–this looks like a possibility. I have not done any on-line socializing using Zoom or Hangouts so this would be a challenge I would need help with. Love the artist clip. Now to find one with a grand old lady.
Thank you Vicki! Congratulations to all the anniversary people!
Where do you get all this neat stuff to make us smile, laugh, snicker and wonder? Love it. You’re the best and make a deep dent in our slow weeks, especially Monday. Best..the Wonderful Marbel Machine.
Hugs,
yes, I have to confess. I now look forward to opening my computer on Mondays.
I am not sure if i will want to virtual tutor in the fall. I am going to hold out until more information comes out. One of the treasures I gained with my tutee was watching how those moments of insight developed, both for her and for me. I am not sure a computer screen would allow that. I am assuming that the virtual tutoring would happen while the kiddos are at school? My student did not have a computer at home. Zoom has to be one of the more frustrating experiences, because there is a huge time lag between participants.
It was great to see all those books in the library/resource room. And it reminds me that I still have six books needing to be returned. Should I stew over it, or just wait, since at some point Oasis will open back up again?
Thanks to all in the office for continuing to keep the momentum up in energy and enthusiasm. These are frustrating times.

These were fantastic videos. Thanks for livening up my day!
Hi Vicki ????????♀️????????♀️????????♀️
It’s great to see you every Monday!
I like the Marble Machine!!! Amazing!!! And it sure requires stamina to make it work! ????
I would really like to volunteer again this coming school year. A lot depends on what APS determines to be the best and safest way to accomplish this. Virtual volunteering is a definite possibility, too, if it is not safe to mentor in person. Please just keep me in the loop.
