Happy Summer Oasis Reading Mentors!
Thank you to all who volunteered this last year, either in person or online. The principals and teachers have shared in their survey comments that your mentoring has made a difference. Many of the schools have already requested more Oasis volunteers for the next school year. Thank YOU!
Please consider the following APS schools as an option this coming fall: Armijo, Bel-Air, Duranes, Eugene Field, Helen Cordero, and Valle Vista. These elementary schools are either new to our program or in desperate need of community support.
Our mighty team had over 200 volunteers this year and we supported 315 students! I sincerely hope that the 200 volunteers who currently are on break will join us this coming fall – the students really, really need all the support.
I look forward to starting the new school year. In the interim, enjoy a safe and happy summer.
With joy,
Vicki
Just for fun!

Voice of the day
Schools provide safe spaces to talk about controversial issues, and literature presents characters portraying human experience in all its richness and contradictoriness. Reading is a way to take in the difficult situations and understand them. – Julia Alvarez
Library Student Book:
Our students can also be potential authors. Journaling with a student helps them learn to organize their thoughts and ideas. This young author created his own story and placed his book in the local library!

Many of you are dedicated volunteers, but have you taken an Oasis class in person or online? We have a plethora of options including art, science, wellness and humanities. Join us September 16th at 10am and bring a friend to learn all about the many classes Oasis has to offer.
Thank you to the volunteers who have already reached out to commit to mentoring this fall 2022. I truly look forward to welcoming the entire team back!
