Rachel Popowcer’s art evolves from a particular desire for refuge, a focus on what makes us vulnerable, and a deep interest in visual storytelling/ narrative. Her recent paintings and photographic works utilize color, composition, and symbolic imagery to deal with the chaos and boundaries inherent in everyday life. Incorporating imagery that may include portals, nature, written text, and repetitive patterns, she seeks to create a space where these symbolic pictures can interact and elevate her pieces from the personal to the universal.

Rachel Popowcer received her BFA from Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh and her MFA from the University of New Mexico. She has exhibited her work extensively, and has participated in artist residencies such as the Vermont Studio Center. She is also an adjunct art professor at CNM and has taught art workshops at Oasis and many other institutions.

Paintings are for sale and a portion of sales benefits Oasis.
