Visual echoes resonate between paintings by Marta Morr Light and Linda Holland, then reflect from gallery walls to include viewers in the dialogue. Each artist intuitively depicts impressions of the physical world in their abstract paintings, evoking a sense of place beyond geography. Their approaches and their experiences are different, but their works share spontaneous intent and emotion through gesture, movement, and color.

Linda Holland’s abstract paintings evoke realms: enigmatic, yet with palpable sense of place. Layered and blended colors, textures, and motion invite the viewer to participate in a journey. Her abstract sculptures and paintings have been featured in solo and two-person shows in New Mexico as well as juried regional exhibits. In addition to corporate and private collections, her work has been selected for university, state, and municipal art collections.

Marta Light states that her intent is to “show something in a way that is felt as well as seen — in a rhythm and gesture, both hidden and revealed.” She holds degrees in fine arts and education and her work is represented in art collections in New Mexico and across the country. She has received awards from the National Small Painting Show, the National Collage Society, and Mississauga City Center in Toronto. Her work is included in the Bernalillo County 1% for the Arts, the Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Fe, the Albuquerque Museum, and the National Collage Society.

Paintings are for sale; a portion of sales benefits Oasis.
